Eurozone consumer confidence improves more than expected in July
(Alliance News) - Consumer confidence in the eurozone decreased in July, according to preliminary data from the European Commission.
The flash estimate for euro area consumer confidence came in at minus 14.7 for July, improving by 0.6 percentage points from minus 15.3 in June. It also surpassed the FXStreet-cited consensus estimate of minus 15.
For the European Union, consumer confidence improved by 0.3 percentage points to 14.5.
However, the European Commission noted that "consumer confidence continues to score well below its long-term average".
